Chelmsford is located in Essex, south-eastern England. The town is approximately 40 miles from London and has a population of over 150,000.

Chelmsford is most known for being home to Britain’s first public radio broadcast. The broadcast was hosted by the pioneering Marconi organisation and took place on the 15th of June 1920.

Chelsford was childhood home to Geoff Hurst, the only man to have scored a hat-trick in the football World Cup final. Chelmsford currently has numerous sporting teams including Chelmsford city football club, Chelmsford hockey club and Essex county cricket club. Essex County Cricket Club play at the Ford County Ground in Chelmsford. It is one of the eighteen counties which make up professional cricket in England.

Chelmsford is home to a number of famous residents including Nigel Spink, professional footballer and European cup winner,  Joseph Thomas, actor and star of  ‘The Inbetweeners’, Tom McRae (Singer), Sarah Perry (writer) and Tom Payne (actor).
