Liverpool is a city located in
Merseyside. Liverpool is just over 200 miles from London and has an approximate population of
560,000 people.
Liverpool is a well-known port
city, city of culture and city of sport. Although the city is now has a diverse
economy focused on finance and tourism, Liverpool’s
history is one centred around trade. Liverpool was one of the key port
locations involved in the slave trade, with connections to the West Indies and America. Cotton
was also traded, with Liverpool the gateway for cotton imports destined for
factories in Manchester.
Liverpool
is home to two of England’s
biggest Premiership football teams, Liverpool
football club and Everton football club. Liverpool is also home to England’s golf
coast, with three royal linked golf courses.

Liverpool is perhaps best
known for being the home of the world famous band The Beatles. The city is
awash with many ‘Beatle themed’ attractions including The Beatles Story, a tour
taking in such famous sites as the Cavern Club . In addition to the Beatles,
other famous past residents include Kim Cattrall (Sex in the City actress).
