Southall
Southall is located to the west of London and is part of the borough of Ealing. The town is approximately 11 miles from Charing Cross and has an approximate population of 70,000.

Southall is commonly known as 'Little India' as there are strong Indian and Pakistani routes throughout the town. Women are often seen wearing colourful saris and bright fabrics. Pavement food stalls selling samosas and Indian sweets. It is common to see bright fabrics hanging in the shop windows of the town.

The main shopping area is along Southall Broadway on the Uxbridge road. Indian styled jewellery and silk can be purchased here. Henna tattoos and an Indian head massage are popular services in this area. Another popular attraction in Southall is Southall Park, which includes pavilions, tennis courts and childrens’ play parks as well as large areas of open space. 

Famous residents to Southall include actress Anne-Marie Duff, who is well known for her three BAFTA awards and several nominations. Another famous resident to Southall is Cleo Laine, who is an English jazz singer, pop singer and actress. She spent her early life in Southall and began her career by joining a band led by John Dankworth. 

Southall is located on the Grand Canal. Neighbouring towns include Yeading (13 miles), Hayes (16 miles) and Hounslow (12 miles).
