Eastleigh is located in
Hampshire. The town is between Southampton and Winchester,
5 miles from Southampton and 76 miles from London. Eastleigh
has a large population of over 120,000 people.
Eastleigh
is best known for being a railway town, located on the South West Mainline,
with a train route travelling between Southhampton and Winchester. The railway station was
originally called Bishopstoke Junction when it was opened in 1839 but was later
renamed Eastleigh station in 1923.
Eastleigh
has many features, including the town museum which tells the history of Eastleigh through the life of a railway worker and his
family in the Victorian era. There is
also a miniature steam railway. Other attractions throughout the town include
shopping in popular retail high street stores and the Swan Shopping Centre.

Eastleigh is home to famous
comedian Benny Hill who has a street named after him in the town. Another
famous resident from Eastleigh is Dani King,
winner of a gold Olympic medal for cycling in the London 2012 Olympics.
