Cheshire is
a county located in the North West of England. The western edge of Cheshire
forms part of England’s border to Wales. The county town of Chesire is Chester,
although its largest town is Warrington, founded by the Romans at an important
crossing place on the River Mersey. Cheshire has a population of over a million
people.
Cheshire is
known for being home to the production of Cheshire Cheese, one of the oldest
recorded cheese names in Britain.
Cheshire is
also famous for its many historical houses, market towns and national trust
properties. The county’s events and festivals including the Cheshire County
show and North West Food Lovers.
Other
attractions include Stockley Farm Birds of Prey Centre, Chester Zoo and Little
Moreton Hall.
Famous
residents from Chesire include Sarah Storey, a British swimmer, track cyclist
and gold medallist at the Paralympics 2012. Other famous past and former
residents include Daniel Craig, James Bond actor and Tim Hunt, biologist.
